ATHENA Consulting is sourcing qualified candidates for an assignment with Montgomery County’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Behavioral Health and Crisis Services (BHCS) – Trauma Services program.
The selected candidate will be employed by SQN Systems and assigned to DHHS under a subcontracting partnership.
All payroll, benefits, and employment-related matters will be administered by SQN Systems.
This role provides trauma-informed intake, assessment, and bilingual case management services to individuals impacted by trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, and involvement in the criminal justice system.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Intake & Assessment
Payment is issued weekly through SQN Systems via direct deposit.
Timekeeping is managed through SQN’s payroll system, iSolved.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Intake & Assessment
- Obtain client-specific information including trauma history, mental health/substance use concerns, and eligibility factors
- Conduct initial and follow-up assessments in both English and Spanish
- Determine program eligibility and provide referrals
- Provide bilingual information, guidance, and direct linkage to community programs, services, and benefits
- Collaborate with criminal justice providers
- Participate in case consultation meetings with internal and external partners
- Maintain accurate and timely case records
- Prepare reports for supervisors and external entities, including court-related documentation when applicable
- Participate in supervision, department meetings, and required trainings
- Provide education and outreach to community agencies
- Assist with development of outreach materials and informational literature
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in human services involving substantive client contact and service delivery
- Ability to work effectively across diverse cultures and reduce barriers to service
- Knowledge of trauma and victimization dynamics
- Bilingual English/Spanish (required)
- Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or related field
- Experience within the Criminal Justice system
- Experience in trauma-informed care
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Must pass CJS and CWS background checks
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work
- Standard work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (evenings/weekends may be required)
- Travel required
