Position Summary
We are currently recruiting for an Fiscal Services Officer l. The Fiscal Services Officer will be primarily responsible for managing the accident billing process for the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). This role includes coordinating the distribution, collection, and documentation of accident billing reports for Shops and Districts, as well as maintaining accurate records on the progress and disposition of each report. The position will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate billing to responsible parties and in supporting the development and implementation of the Accident Billing Control (ABC) system, and other duties as assigned. This full-time position starts at $21.80 per and is located in Baltimore, MD.

- Coordinate the distribution and collection of accident billing reports to and from Shops and Districts.
- Track and document the status of each crash report through all stages, including:
- When incidents are sent to the appropriate District or Shop.
- Determination of whether incidents are billable.
- Actions taken regarding each incident.
- Confirmation of when incidents have been billed to responsible parties.
- For non-billable incidents, document and record the reason for the decision.
- Maintain and update detailed tracking logs for all accident billing activity.
- Provide regular reporting on the status of crash reports and billing progress to management.
- Conduct continued follow-up with Districts and Shops to ensure timely resolution of open reports.
- Assist with the design, development, and implementation of the Accident Billing Control (ABC) system to streamline and automate billing processes.
- Support Accounts Receivable/Cash Receipts (AR/CR) operations as needed.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy within the fiscal services team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Strong analytical skills

- An Associates degree in Accounting or related field or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background preferred.
- Experience in accounts receivable, billing, or fiscal operations within a government or transportation environment is desirable.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Standard hours of work 7:00 AM to 3:40 PM Monday to Friday
