Position Summary
The Financial Services Specialist is responsible for ensuring sound fiscal management and accountability through effective auditing, surplus management, and disposal of university assets. This role supports compliance with the CAAP Manual and VSU policies, helping maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency in asset management. The specialist collaborates with departments to monitor assets, prepare reports, and ensure proper recordkeeping throughout the asset lifecycle.
Location: Petersburg, VA
Pay Rate: $25/hour
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities
- Manage auditing, surplus, and disposal of university assets in compliance with the CAAP Manual and VSU policy
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of university assets
- Monitor asset lifecycle and coordinate with departments on audits and disposals
- Ensure financial and operational compliance in all asset management activities
- Provide support for fiscal reporting and financial decision-making
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience working in a higher education setting
- Knowledge of Banner and/or EVA financial systems
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
