Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct land surveys and measurements using specialized tools and equipment
- Prepare and maintain accurate field notes, maps, and reports
- Establish and verify boundary lines for properties
- Research historical maps, surveys, and legal documents to gather information
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other surveying software
- Provide expert advice on land development and construction projects
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Draft and present land survey results to clients and stakeholders
- Coordinate fieldwork activities and manage project timelines
- Perform topographic and hydrographic surveys
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations
- Resolve discrepancies and disputes regarding land boundaries
- Stay updated on the latest surveying technology and industry best practices
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land surveying
- Advanced degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field
- Proficiency in CAD software and GIS tools
- Extensive experience in land surveying and boundary determinations
- Strong project management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Familiarity with the latest surveying technologies and techniques
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in the use of survey instruments and software
- Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and precision
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Must possess a valid Washington State Land Surveyor License
- Valid licenses in other states are considered a plus
- Membership in professional organizations such as NSPS is desired
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field, preferred
- Or a 2-year associate degree and 2 years of board approved work experience
- Or 4 years of board-approved work experience
- The physical ability, on occasion, to work in the field walking, twisting, balancing, exposure to inclement weather, noise, and slippery and/or uneven surfaces
- Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Requires viewing a computer screen for long periods of time
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen post offer
- Driving is required for business on an occasional basis or to accomplish work which requires the use of a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement
- Must possess a valid driver license and a safe driving record throughout the course of employment
