What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director position at AT Talent - Rec2Rec?
Director — Executive Search & Practice Leadership
Role Overview
The Director leads strategic growth, client acquisition, and high-value senior search delivery within a boutique, relationship-driven executive search firm operating across Technology, Accounting & Finance, and emerging Legal & Compliance practices. Reporting into Ownership, the Director acts as both a biller and business builder — shaping practice strategy, expanding key accounts, mentoring senior consultants, and delivering complex, big-ticket assignments with precision and professionalism.
The Director is a core leadership voice in the business, operating peer-to-peer with established practice heads, driving market expansion, and reinforcing a culture built on maturity, collaboration, loyalty, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership & Growth
- Drives 360° business development and strategic account expansion across Technology and Accounting & Finance, with future shared leadership across Legal & Compliance.
- Develops and deploys growth plans to strengthen the BD engine, identify market opportunities, and secure high-fee executive mandates.
- Contributes to multi-practice revenue strategy, ensuring vertical alignment and cross-functional collaboration.
Executive Search Delivery
- Leads high-value searches — particularly within Financial Services, Hedge Funds, Asset Management, and FinTech infrastructure.
- Owns senior-level search processes end-to-end, managing stakeholder relationships, market mapping, search strategy, and candidate engagement.
- Delivers quality in complex markets, often presenting and managing a broad slate of top-tier candidates for a singular placement.
Client Relationship & Market Positioning
- Builds long-term, trusted, high-touch relationships with C-Suite, Partners, Portfolio Managers, CTOs, VPs of Finance, Risk Leaders, and Compliance stakeholders.
- Acts as a strategic advisor to clients, differentiating the firm through insights, credibility, discretion, and relationship capital.
- Protects and enhances the reputation of the business, reinforcing its boutique impact and competitive edge.
Coaching, Mentorship & Collaboration
- Mentors senior-level consultants and supports best-in-class recruiter training frameworks.
- Elevates internal standards in business development, deal execution, search excellence, and client communication.
- Collaborates directly with practice heads to co-own cross-vertical client needs and placements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The Director thrives in environments where influence outweighs title, where contributions are felt immediately, and where relationships are the currency of success.
Strong Fit Includes:
- Proven 360° biller in Finance, Hedge Funds, Asset Management, or FinTech markets.
- Demonstrated track record in securing and delivering large-fee search projects ($50k–$90k per mandate).
- Deep experience managing senior stakeholder relationships with authenticity and strategic credibility.
- Comfortable working in hybrid, collaborative, boutique office environments.
- A leader who builds trust internally and externally, and who reinforces culture through impact, not ego.
- Someone energized by big-market deals rather than volume recruiting.
Less Ideal Includes:
- Leaders who lack hands-on business development ownership.
- Recruiters reliant solely on inbound job orders with minimal 360 engagement.
- Individuals seeking rigid hierarchies, transactional recruiting, or limited cross-functional collaboration.
- Professionals uncomfortable with in-office hybrid models.
What Sets This Opportunity Apart
- Boutique Visibility: The Director’s work directly shapes company success — without corporate layers, siloes, or red tape.
- Stability & Tenure: The business has a long-standing leadership team and exceptionally low turnover for the recruitment sector.
- High-Value Markets: The firm performs embedded, high-fee executive search work in hedge funds, financial services, and FinTech infrastructure.
- Earning Potential: Consultants operate within premium commission tiers, reflective of high desk averages and significant individual impact.
- World-Class Training: The company has a structured ramp model, bolstered by industry-leading recruiter training and coaching frameworks.
- Culture by Design: Drama-free, politics-free, high-performing, loyal, mature, and team-led — where leadership is authentic and relationships run deep.
- Flexibility & Balance: Hybrid working, unlimited PTO, and a work-life ethos designed for personal sustainability and high performance.
- Community & Fun: Built-in traditions and team events that reinforce collaboration, loyalty, and connection year-round.
Working Model & Benefits
- Hybrid office environment with 3–4 days per week in-office and flexibility built in.
- Unlimited paid time off and unlimited holidays.
- Supportive working environment for parents, caregivers, and high-performing professionals.
- The role sits at leadership level alongside established peer desks, not in isolation.
In Summary:
The Director is a strategic search leader, business developer, and culture carrier — delivering premium executive assignments, securing high-fee mandates, expanding key markets, mentoring senior consultants, and shaping the next chapter of practice growth in a business built on trust and performance.
