Astronics-PECO designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.

To support our continued growth, we are searching for a skilled Proposal Manager to join our team.

In this role you will be responsible for managing, presenting, and assisting in the negotiation of proposals and contracts. This will support existing and new accounts and programs, with a focus on the aerospace and defense market. You will work cross-functionally to ensure proposals comply with customer requirements, internal processes, and position the business for a successful NPI transition in the event of an award. Additionally, this in this role you will adopt certain responsibilities of customer Account Management, company marketing, and overall business growth.

The person most likely to find success in this role is an independent self -starter with an analytical mind. You will need to be comfortable in customer facing meetings.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead various proposal efforts, from pre-RFP requirements definition through award of contract, to include managing support for fact-finding, Requests for Information (RFIs), and negotiation.
  • Prepare proposal plans and schedules and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage proposal requirement working groups to ensure proposal requirements are clearly defined.
  • Lead preparation for and host proposal meetings internally and with customers.
  • Lead team to respond to fact finding and technical evaluation activities where appropriate
  • Lead proposal negotiations.
  • Act as liaison between the customer and PECO. Represent the voice of the customer internally to other PECO personnel and departments.
  • Participate in after production review of product for correct costing and performance data.
  • Ability to read/interpret/understand customer drawings and manufacturing plans.
  • Provide input and participate in the marketing, planning and technical development of products and services.
  • Develop and deliver professional presentations to customers that focus on the benefits of PECO products and speak directly to customer needs.
  • Maintain an up to date working knowledge of newly developing technologies and manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of trends relative to the markets PECO serves including competition, changes in the business climate, emerging needs, and changes in customer business strategy.
  • Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, or related fields, with additional technical training preferred.
  • Five years of field technical/industrial experience; experience working with contract manufacturing services preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with quoting and proposal writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large and small projects and/or accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain technical drawings, data, and 3D Models.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and the ability to interpret and explain data.
  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in all MS Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with OEM manufacturing customer requirements.
