Role Overview

This Surveying role requires you measure the size and shape of an area of land. Work out the position of boundaries of public or private land. Physically set out land and building developments. Survey and model public utility mains that are underground using survey equipment . All duties of the role are to be performed according to the Company operating procedures in order to maximise the safety of all personnel at the work site and to efficiently perform the task.

Essential Duties:

  • Measure and model the depth of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable and electric lines
  • Examine previous records and evidence to ensure data is accurate
  • Research and design methods for survey processes
  • Use equipment and tools to accurately measure land features (e.g. longitudes, latitudes)
  • Build maps and sketches
  • Communicate with clients, site contacts, management
  • Use a variety of techniques (electrical, magnetic, blueprint analysis, and/or radar) to measure utilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Surveying tasks are completed in an efficient, safe and professional manner
  • Ensure allocated equipment and vehicle are well maintained
  • Pre-organise job requirements (DBYD information, field notes, design files) if required
  • Always adhere to Astrea's and our client's safety requirements
  • Ensure client satisfaction
  • Ensure effective and efficient use of resources
  • Carry out Job Safety Analysis prior to each shift
  • Understand and agree to work according to our IMS
  • Adhere to Quality, Safety & Environmental Policies and Procedures of the company and client
  • Correctly fill out paperwork (hire dockets, timesheets, office paperwork etc.)Data entry for specific jobs
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, site officials and customers
  • Manage time effectively
  • Work independently as well as part of a team

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2 years experience in Civil Construction industry Surveying
  • Broad understanding of subsurface utility engineering standards and legislative compliance
  • Previous experience operating and maintaining a variety of equipment including but not limited to Survey instruments and laser scanners
