Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Professional Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will lead land surveying projects, utilizing advanced technology and precise techniques to gather accurate spatial data. Your expertise will support land development, civil engineering, and construction projects, ensuring all surveys meet regulatory standards and client specifications. Duties
- Principal Surveyor, in charge of all surveying projects and crew management.
- Conduct land surveys using GPS, total stations, and other advanced surveying equipment to collect precise spatial data.
- Prepare detailed survey plans, schematics, and drawings using Carlson Survey software.
- Perform boundary surveys (including ALTA surveys), topographic surveys, construction staking, and as-built documentation.
- Apply principles of trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math to calculate distances, angles, elevations, and coordinate transformations accurately.
- Collaborate with civil engineers to develop 3D models and schematics that support design and construction phases.
- Manage data collection processes with Trimble and Carlson systems; ensure data integrity and proper documentation for project records.
- Support construction teams by providing precise staking information and verifying site conditions during various project phases.
- Maintain compliance with minimum survey standards, safety standards, and requirements throughout all surveying activities.
Skills
- Must possess a West Virginia Professional Surveyor License
- Strong knowledge of land surveying principles combined with proficiency in GPS technology, total stations, and data collection methods.
- Expertise in CAD software such as Carlson and/or AutoCAD for drafting and modeling purposes.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms like ArcGIS for spatial analysis and mapping solutions is a plus.
- Solid understanding of civil engineering concepts related to construction layout, schematics, ALTA surveys, and land development processes.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts, including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and general math, to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with clients.
- Proficiency in courthouse document research.
- Maintaining knowledge of relevant regulations and rulings governing land surveying practices.
