Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Job Description

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing multi-state payroll processing, supporting billing and month-end reconciliations, managing accounts payable data entry, and communicating with vendors regarding payments and tax documentation. This role also involves expense reporting, purchasing, and receiving, with a focus on vendor invoices, delivery status, and related inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-state payroll for approximately 150 employees on a bi-weekly basis, including weekly timesheet processing for contractors.
  • Manage accounts payable data entry and support billing and month-end reconciliations.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, delivery status, payments, and tax documentation.
  • Collaborate with purchasing on invoice processing and manage expense reporting.
  • Coordinate customer visits, travel, and meetings as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, expense reporting, invoicing, and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of Paylocity, UKG, or other third-party payroll processing software.
  • Comfortable using MS Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of GAAP standards and experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related business field strongly preferred.
  • Experience may substitute for education if candidate is passionate about growth in an accounting career.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint is a plus.
  • Organized, efficient, and comfortable with face-to-face interaction.

Work Environment

This position is primarily onsite with some flexibility available. The Accounting Specialist will report to the Accounting Director and Senior Accounting Manager. The team is composed of three accounting staff members, with two team members scheduled to go on leave. The work environment is very tenured, small, and highly collaborative, with a strong culture and open-door policy for addressing timesheets, PTO balances, and payroll questions. The role is based in a company known for its excellence and commitment to delivering high-energy laser solutions, located in Longmont, Colorado.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Longmont, CO.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
