- Conduct ongoing security assessments aligned with NIST, FISMA, CISA, and federal directives
- Perform systems engineering and maintenance activities
- Implement and troubleshoot security solutions across LAN, Azure, and wireless environments
- Lead threat monitoring, log analysis, and proactive threat hunting
- Develop and enhance Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) capabilities
- Execute incident response activities and develop incident handling procedures
- Develop detection and response policies to improve automation
- Collaborate with leadership (CISO, Privacy Officer) to strengthen cybersecurity posture
- Produce security metrics, reports, and threat intelligence outputs
- Maintain documentation and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Configure and manage cybersecurity tools including: SIEM, Syslog, EDR/NDR, Firewalls, Microsoft 365 Security & Defender for Cloud, CDM tools
- 6 years of cybersecurity operations experience (senior-level requirement)
- Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, and incident response
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of: NIST frameworks, FISMA, federal cybersecurity standards, Microsoft Azure and M365 security ecosystem, Network security technologies
- CISSP, CISM, CASP , CySA , or equivalent
- Microsoft Azure Security certifications

Assurit is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Operations Engineer to support a federal client mission-critical cybersecurity program.
Overview
This role focuses on securing hybrid cloud and on-premise environments, advancing security operations capabilities, and leading threat detection and response initiatives.
Location: Washington, DC (Onsite; limited remote flexibility)
