GENERAL STATEMENT

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Recreation & Services, the Games Center Assistant provides games center services to the campus community at both on-campus and off-campus locations including, but not limited to, the University Library and Sports Basement Sports & Outdoors Store.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Operates Point of Sales System, debit machine and uses appropriate cash handling procedures.


2. Stocks drinks and food items in accordance to First in First Out (FIFO) procedures to follow ServSafe Food safety methods.


3. Issues equipment in the games center such as cue sticks, billiards balls, triangle racks, table tennis paddles, and video game console controllers.


4. Ensures that the equipment and facilities are being used in a safe manner.


5. Monitors supplies and informs the Lead Commercial Services Attendant or Assistant Director when supplies are needed.


6. General cleaning of counter and display cases by wiping down area with the proper cleaning supplies. 


7. Responsible for the proper opening and closing procedures of the Games Center facility, as scheduled, for both on-campus or offsite locations.


8. Support Games Center events hosted by on-campus and off-campus groups and organizations.


9. Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Minimum or no previous job experience is necessary. Cash handling and point-of-sale experience is preferred but not required. Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.

Knowledge and Abilities

Must demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to interact with others in a patient, friendly, and professional manner. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, personalities, and perspectives. General knowledge of the campus environment and resources is preferred. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, maintain attention to detail, and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

California Food Handler Card or the ability to obtain the CA Food Handler Card within the first 30 days of employment.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Schedule

This position is an annual, year-round position that works through the winter & summer academic breaks. Shifts are generally scheduled Monday–Saturday between the hours of 9 AM to 8 PM. Shifts will include evenings, weekends, and special events, and scheduled hours may fluctuate based on departmental needs and event activity. Must be available to work at various games center locations which include both off campus & on campus locations.
