Position Overview

Under the direction of the Feed Mill Manager, the Assistant Mill Manager supports all aspects of feed mill operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is eager to grow into a leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain the batching system; serve as backup to the Mill Manager when needed

• Operate and maintain pellet mill equipment following proper training procedures

• Produce high-quality feed while monitoring production and quality standards

• Prepare feed orders for delivery, including bagging, loading trucks, and occasional routing assistance

• Receive and manage bulk and bagged ingredients while maintaining accurate inventory counts

• Perform and document preventative maintenance tasks (daily, weekly, monthly), including:

  • Greasing bearings

  • Checking gearboxes

  • Inspecting and tightening belts

• Maintain cleanliness of the mill and surrounding grounds

• Assist with repairs and coordinate with contractors as needed

• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards

• Provide professional and courteous customer service to patrons, customers, and team members

• Support additional operational tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and speak English

• Strong dependability, problem-solving skills, and ability to make quick decisions

• Customer-focused mindset with a positive, professional attitude

• Basic math and computer skills

• Valid driver’s license required

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, stairs, and bins as needed

• Comfortable working in grain, dust, and varying Nebraska weather conditions

• Willingness to work extended hours as business demands require

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Preferred (but not required):

• Experience in feed mills, grain handling, agriculture, or elevator operations

• Background in batching or pelleting

• Experience operating forklifts, loaders, conveyors, tractors, or similar equipment
