Position Summary
The Glass Cutter operates a computer-driven machine that cuts the glass to specification, using an automated mechanism to load the glass and cut to size. The employee is responsible for removing the cut pieces of glass from the cutting table and slotting them into the correct cart while discarding any excess glass. Quality checks for any imperfections in the glass and safety awareness for oneself and coworkers around glass are required.
Key Accountabilities
- Working from the daily production label, the Glass Cutter enters scheduling information into the computer which then selects the glass panes to be cut and automates the cutting mechanism.
- The operator will follow the instructions on the monitor, selecting and placing the cut pieces of glass in the correct cart and discarding the excess glass. For quality purposes, the Glass Cutter will blow off the cutting table after each sheet.
- Safety is of paramount importance with this position, and employees are required to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in this role.
- Other duties as assigned, including housekeeping and cross training to become proficient across multiple positions
- High School diploma or GED
- 1-2 years experience in a fast-paced assembly line work
- Ability to read and comprehend English
- Use, understand, and thoroughly read a tape measure
PREFERRED EDUCTION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and is required to be worn daily.
