Assabet Technical Institute (ATI), the adult education division of Assabet Valley Regional Technical Vocational School District, is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Chapter 74 Cosmetology Teacher to support the expansion of our new Dual Enrollment Cosmetology Program and established Evening Cosmetology Program.
This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work with both high school dual enrollment students and adult learners in a hands-on, career-focused environment designed to prepare students for success in the cosmetology industry and Massachusetts licensure requirements.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction aligned with Massachusetts Chapter 74 standards while fostering a supportive and professional learning environment that reflects current industry practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:
Deliver engaging theory and hands-on instruction aligned with Massachusetts Chapter 74 Cosmetology frameworks.
Teach both dual enrollment high school students and adult evening students.
Prepare students for the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Cosmetology and Barbering licensure requirements.
Develop lesson plans, practical demonstrations, assessments, and industry-aligned learning activities.
Integrate employability, professionalism, communication, and customer service skills into instruction.
2. Dual Enrollment Program Support:
Support the implementation and growth of ATI’s new Dual Enrollment initiative in partnership with local comprehensive high schools.
Collaborate with sending schools, guidance counselors, and administration to support student success.
Monitor student attendance, progress, and skill development while maintaining accurate records.
3. Salon & Lab Management:
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional salon/lab environment.
Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and state regulatory requirements.
Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment associated with cosmetology instruction.
4. Student Support & Career Readiness:
Mentor and support students as they transition into postsecondary education and careers within the cosmetology industry.
Assist students with portfolio development, resume writing, interview preparation, and employment readiness.
Build partnerships with salons, spas, and industry professionals to support work-based learning and employment opportunities.
5. Program Development & Collaboration:
Participate in curriculum development and continuous program improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with ATI administration and instructors to support enrollment, retention, and student engagement efforts.
Assist with program outreach activities including open houses, career exploration events, and community engagement opportunities.
6. Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain student records, attendance, grading, and competency documentation.
Participate in required meetings, professional development, and school activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Community Education or ATI Coordinator.
