I&C Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems for complex manufacturing and process facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects in high-tech industrial environments, supporting automation, instrumentation, and safety systems for mission-critical operations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in industrial control systems, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to contribute across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the development of project proposals, budgets, and schedules for process-specific engineering work.
- Design facility control systems, fire alarm systems, chemical control systems, Toxic Gas Monitoring (TGM), and SCADA systems.
- Develop P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and other engineering documentation.
- Perform sizing and selection of instrumentation, valves, and control devices, including preparation of technical data sheets.
- Review vendor submittals and engineering deliverables for compliance with client requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Initiate and develop Sequence of Operation (SOO) documents.
- Support technical discussions and presentations with clients, project stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams throughout project execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Mechanical or Chemical Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- 6 years of experience in industrial control systems engineering and design.
- Experience with PLC systems, industrial networks, cybersecurity, motor control, and power distribution systems.
- Hands-on experience designing PLC-based systems including Allen-Bradley, Schneider Modicon, and Siemens platforms.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70, UL 508A, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure in Virginia.
- Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing tools, cleanroom environments, or advanced manufacturing facilities.
- Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other BIM/CAD platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project delivery tools.
- Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating complex design efforts.
- Industrial project experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, data centers, or similar high-tech industries.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
