Structural Engineer
Duration: Contract-to-Hire
Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid)
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support a variety of industrial and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary design team, contributing to structural analysis, design development, and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
You will work closely with Structural Leads, Engineers, and Designers to develop practical design solutions, perform analysis, and ensure structural requirements are accurately reflected in drawings and models. This position is ideal for someone building a strong technical foundation and looking to grow into increased responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural analysis and design for a range of projects under general supervision
- Apply engineering principles, techniques, and applicable codes to develop design solutions
- Assist in developing design concepts and translating them into construction documents
- Coordinate with designers and other disciplines to ensure accurate integration of structural elements
- Develop knowledge of lateral systems, including wind and seismic design requirements
- Apply relevant building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC)
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all deliverables
- Review and check calculations, including work completed by peers
- Manage assigned workload to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations
- Identify scope changes and communicate them to project leadership
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, including defining scope and estimating effort
- Collaborate with team members and seek guidance when needed
- Candidates must reside in the U.S. Northwest Region (AK, ID, MT, OR, WA, WY) or Canada
- Hybrid work environment with a combination of remote and in-office work
- Reliable home internet required to support project needs
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Minimum 2 years of structural engineering experience
- Working knowledge of U.S. building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Solid interpersonal and teamwork abilities
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (structural focus)
- Experience with structural analysis and modeling software
- Familiarity with Navisworks and Bluebeam
- Experience designing steel and concrete structures
- Experience supporting semiconductor, industrial, or similar complex facilities
