Process Chemical/Mechanical Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Boise, ID (Hybrid/Remote with Periodic Onsite Requirements)
Aspen Technical Staffing is seeking a Process Chemical/Mechanical Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting a leading semiconductor manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho. This role offers the opportunity to work as an Owner's Representative, collaborating directly with facility stakeholders to review designs, specifications, and construction documentation for complex industrial infrastructure projects.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, influencing project outcomes, and serving as a technical liaison between design teams, contractors, and facility owners.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the Process Chemical/Mechanical Engineering Owner's Representative on capital projects supporting advanced manufacturing facilities.
- Review engineering designs, specifications, drawings, and construction documents to ensure compliance with project requirements and facility standards.
- Coordinate with project teams, facility owners, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the design and construction review process.
- Provide technical oversight and feedback on process piping systems, chemical distribution systems, gas distribution systems, wastewater systems, plumbing systems, and related infrastructure.
- Review and comment on P&IDs, equipment layouts, vendor submittals, RFIs, construction packages, and technical documentation.
- Support engineering calculations, equipment sizing, component selection, and system integration activities.
- Assist with retrofit and expansion projects involving existing facility infrastructure.
- Participate in multidisciplinary project teams to drive successful project execution from design through construction.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in chemical or mechanical facilities engineering.
- Experience with one or more of the following systems:
- Ultrapure water (UPW)
- Chemical distribution systems
- Gas distribution systems
- Process piping
- Industrial exhaust systems
- Plumbing and wastewater systems
- Pumps and tank storage systems
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting engineering design and project delivery processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing facilities, cleanroom environments, or advanced manufacturing operations.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Field engineering or construction support experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving project requirements.
- Passion for industrial facilities, engineering design, and construction
