Architectural Design Technician

Our client is seeking an experienced Architectural Design Technician to join their growing team in Boise, Idaho. This role is ideal for a highly skilled design professional with experience supporting complex industrial, semiconductor, and high-tech facility projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, coordinating, and publishing architectural project deliverables while collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams.
This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects in advanced manufacturing and technology environments while contributing to innovative facility designs from concept through construction documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Create, coordinate, and publish project deliverables including drawings, models, details, schedules, and construction documentation.
- Develop architectural designs and layouts with minimal supervision while advancing projects from verbal direction to completed deliverables.
- Support project architects and senior designers in design development and technical execution.
- Prepare architectural documentation for all project phases, including:
- Floor plans
- Elevations
- Sections
- Details
- Schedules
- BIM models
- Participate in design reviews, code compliance discussions, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and other project disciplines.
- Perform field surveys and document existing conditions.
- Resolve design conflicts and coordination issues between disciplines and field conditions.
- Review project specifications and provide input to improve design quality and constructability.
- Process and review submittal documentation.
- Respond promptly to design, coordination, and information requests.
- Develop labor estimates and task duration estimates as needed.
- Identify and address design gaps, inconsistencies, and incomplete work prior to formal review.
- Apply project standards, client requirements, and established procedures throughout project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and early-career architects.
- Assist in assigning and delegating work under the direction of project leadership.
- Associate degree in Computer Drafting and Design, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Experience supporting industrial building design projects.
- Experience working on semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, cleanroom, or other high-tech facility projects.
- Strong understanding of architectural drafting, modeling, and construction documentation processes.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive experience with:
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- Navisworks
- Bluebeam
- Advanced BIM modeling and drafting capabilities.
- Experience performing model reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Ability to function as an area or system lead designer when required.
- Strong understanding of project scope, schedule, and budget impacts.
- Ability to identify scope changes and communicate risks to project leadership.
- Experience supporting large-scale industrial or manufacturing facility projects.
- Experience coordinating architectural designs with engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with cleanroom environments and semiconductor facility requirements.
- Proven ability to evaluate multiple technical solutions and present recommendations to project teams and clients.
- Experience mentoring and supporting junior design staff.
