We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Behavioral Health Medical Receptionist / Scheduler to join our dedicated healthcare team. Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming environment and excellent patient service.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments using our Valant EHR.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and facilitate insurance verification processes.
- Collect and review patient documentation, including intake forms, medical histories, and care plans to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and managing appointment inquiries.
- Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents correctly and updating electronic health records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process medical billing and collections related to behavioral health services while adhering to CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and Medicare guidelines.
- Assist with documentation review, ensuring all clinical notes and billing information meet regulatory standards.
- Support clinic operations by managing appointment reminders, follow-up scheduling, and patient communication efforts.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans and ensure seamless patient flow throughout the clinic day.
Skills
- Extensive experience with Valant EMR/EHR system
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Proficiency in insurance verification processes including Medicare and private insurers.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with Valant health information management is a plus.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly under HIPAA guidelines.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Previous clinic or medical office experience with front desk or administrative support roles preferred.
- Strong organizational skills for managing appointment schedules, filing systems (both electronic and paper), and documentation review tasks.
- Effective communication skills with professional phone etiquette and active listening capabilities.
