Job Title: Lab Technician - Materials/Manufacturing
Location: Henrico, VA 23231
Duration: 5 Months
Pay rate: $22/hr.
Job Description:
Top Requirements:
- Able to operate/calibrate lab equipment
- Basic Computer Skills esp. with Excel
- Strong teamwork and communication and report writing skills
- The Opportunity
- As an R&D Technician, you’ll support innovation and customer projects aligned with Clients strategic goals. Reporting to the Lab Manager, you’ll perform both qualitative and quantitative testing. Initial training will be under direct supervision.
- Safety is a top priority. You’re expected to follow safe work practices and report any concerns to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative lab tests
- Learn and apply new testing methods to support materials science innovation
- Use spreadsheets to compile and analyze data
- Share findings with project requesters
- Collaborate with team members on larger projects
- Safely operate and calibrate lab equipment under supervision
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required; Associate degree or technical training preferred
- 0–2 years of experience in lab testing or manufacturing
- Experience in paper and packaging industry is a plus
- Familiarity with papermaking and paperboard products preferred
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- High degree of mechanical aptitude and technical curiosity
- Comfortable working in lab, pilot plant, and production settings
- Basic computer skills, especially with spreadsheets
- Able to lift and carry samples up to 50 lbs
