What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Electrical Systems Technician position at Ashley Furniture - North America?
Join Ashley Furniture as an Industrial Electrical Systems Technician
Step into a hands-on role where your craft keeps a large-scale facility running smoothly. From installing new power and lighting to hunting down elusive faults in control circuits, you’ll be the go-to expert ensuring our plant’s electrical infrastructure is safe, reliable, and ready for what’s next.
A Day in the Life
You start your shift reviewing work orders and plans. You might rough-in circuits for a new production area, trace a disturbance in a 480V distribution panel, or repair damaged conduit on a critical line. You talk with operators, document your fixes, and flag anything that needs attention. Safety is your default setting, and housekeeping is part of your routine. By day’s end, you’ve installed, troubleshot, repaired, and helped plan the next improvement—always aligning with Ashley’s Core and Growth Values.
What You’ll Do
- Install electrical systems for new construction and plant upgrades.
- Diagnose issues across power, lighting, controls, and equipment to pinpoint causes of electrical distribution failures.
- Modify and enhance existing electrical infrastructure, components, and related equipment.
- Repair electrical equipment, conduit, and conductors; perform additional tasks that support company objectives.
- Work safely at all times and model safe work practices.
- Alert your supervisor immediately when you encounter faulty machinery or defective materials.
- Live our Core and Growth Values in every aspect of your work.
- Troubleshoot machinery and equipment upon request.
- Complete minor maintenance and keep required records up to date.
- Operate shop equipment—saws, grinders, drills, and more—and verify work meets specifications.
- Interpret shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructions to execute tasks accurately.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and shared shop spaces.
