Position Title Graduate Assistant, Programs - Recreation and Wellness Job Description
Intramural Sports
- Directly supervise 2-3 Rec Sports Managers and approximately 10-15 officials/scorekeepers.
- Oversee facility set-up including field painting with Rec Sports Managers.
- Schedule all facility spaces used by intramural sports, including the intramural field, gym courts, MAC Court, and any varsity athletic facility.
- Order and inventory all equipment for intramurals.
- Create and maintain budget for all necessary equipment.
- Update all intramural rules and intramural sports participation guide yearly.
- Coordinate staff trainings for intramural sports and special events.
- Develop the Intramural Sports schedules for fall and spring semesters.
- Direct weekly staff meetings with Rec Sports Managers.
- Track intramural participation numbers and analyze program impacts.
- Conduct suspension meetings with participants as needed.
- Program IM Leagues and ensure is kept up to date.
- Provide training and guidance to 10-20 sport club presidents in areas of scheduling, fundraising, recruitment, and overall club management.
- Organize and conduct a minimum of 2 sport club meetings per year (1/semester) held with club officers.
- Collect and file all sports club paperwork.
- Meet with sports club presidents one-on-one as needed.
- Review and update the Sport Club manual annually.
- Serve as the advisor to various Sport Clubs as needed.
- Schedule games/contests, assign officials, and assist in coordinating travel.
- Oversee game-day facility set-up in collaboration with individual presidents.
- Schedule all facility spaces used by sport clubs for both practices and competitions.
- Review budget proposals for all sport clubs on a semester basis.
- Assist in oversight of Sport Clubs/Business Operations Intern (with Assistant Director, Business Operations).
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate approximately 6-10 group exercise instructors per semester.
- Meet weekly to -provide leadership and guidance to Group X Manager.
- Schedule all group exercise classes for fall, spring, summer, and exam weeks.
- Evaluate Group X classes, in person, along with Group X Manager.
- Plan and execute monthly incentive programs for participants and/or instructors.
- Update and revise the Group X section of the Employee Manual annually.
- Coordinate monthly staff meetings with all Group X instructors.
- Track all Group X class participation numbers for program analysis.
- Oversee operations, including patron and equipment usage.
- Supervise climbing wall staffing; ensure wall is staffed for regularly scheduled shifts as well as special events.
- Meet weekly with Climbing Wall Manager.
- Assist with planning and implementation of Homecoming 5K Fun Run.
- Oversee Unified Sports.
- Promote Recreation and Wellness.
- Utilize Engage & Canva to aid in marketing of all programming events.
- Update WhenToWork with staff schedules for all events or programs.
- Promote holistic development of the student through evaluation processes including EagleGrow®.
- Aid in the implementation and facilitation of program assessments.
- Promote outside professional development opportunities to students.
- Exemplify and promote professionalism in the Campus Recreation field.
- Process student payroll.
- Keep website current with departmental offerings.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
- At least one year of experience working in a campus recreation program in a college or university setting.
- Experience working in multiple areas (Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs) preferred.
- Experience officiating a variety of sports preferred.
- Familiarity with WhenToWork preferred.
- Experience with IM Leagues preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
- Supervisory experience within campus recreation setting preferred.
- Standard First Aid, CPR and AED certification current at the time of hire preferred.
- Present self as a professional both in appearance and attitude.
- Instill superior customer service mindset across student staff.
- Several consecutive hours working at desk completing paperwork as well as time spent walking around supervising activities within Recreation Center as well as on the intramural field and within the community.
- Applicant must be willing to work flexible hours and be willing to be physically active for training and evaluation components within the position.
