General Description
The CNA / Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting clients’ day-to-day recovery experience. This position provides direct care, recovery support, and basic medical monitoring while maintaining therapeutic boundaries, accurate documentation, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.

The base compensation range for this position is $18-25
This range reflects Ascension Recovery Services’ good faith estimate at the time of posting. Placement within the range will be based on skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity. Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

General Description
The CNA / Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting clients’ day-to-day recovery experience. This position provides direct care, recovery support, and basic medical monitoring while maintaining therapeutic boundaries, accurate documentation, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcome and orient new clients; review program rules, schedules, and expectations
- Support admissions and intake processes, including belongings searches and documentation
- Monitor client behavior and safety; identify escalation cues and apply de-escalation techniques
- Perform basic medical tasks within scope (vital signs, weights, observation, assistance with ADLs)
- Administer urine drug screens and manage sample handling per protocol
- Assist nursing staff during medication pass as appropriate (CNA/QMA scope dependent)
- Facilitate or assist with psychoeducational, life-skills, and recovery support groups
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record
- Transport clients to appointments, recovery meetings (AA/NA), and community services as assigned
- Provide emotional support and crisis assistance following approved protocols
- Support daily facility operations (meals, environment, safety checks)
- Perform receptionist and communication relay duties as needed
- Collaborate closely with clinical, nursing, and leadership teams
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential (Indiana)
- Valid driver’s license with ability to transport clients safely
- Ability to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or residential care
- Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) credential (Indiana)
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented systems
- Trauma-informed, client-centered approach
- Strong communication skills and professional boundaries
- Calm, grounded response in high-stress or crisis situations
- Accurate documentation and attention to detail
- Team-oriented mindset with flexibility across shifts
- Residential behavioral health treatment environment
- Physical activity including standing, walking, lifting, and assisting clients
- 24/7 operational setting requiring schedule flexibility
