Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Tax Associate for a full-time, hybrid role based in NYC. Salary range is up to $80,000 a year with excellent benefits including 10 Friday's off(!), a generous holiday and PTO schedule, and 401k.
Our client is an established, boutique CPA firm with 3 offices and more than 40 employees. This is a client-focused firm known for exceptional service and a collaborative office culture.
Position Summary:
The Tax Accounts Associate provides administrative and operational support to the Tax and Accounting teams, assisting with bookkeeping, billing, tax administration, and day-to-day office operations. This role is essential to maintaining efficient workflows, accurate client records, and the firm's high standard of client service.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Tax and Accounting teams
- Assist with tax administration, including e-file monitoring, tracking authorizations, organizing tax documents, and maintaining filing deadlines
- Prepare, scan, archive, fax, and distribute client and internal documents
- Prepare, organize, and electronically file tax returns and related documents
- Process and distribute tax organizers, engagement letters, and client correspondence
- Monitor client portals and upload/download documents as needed
- Track outstanding client documents and follow up on missing information
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation within the firm's database
- Assist with bookkeeping tasks, including recording transactions and bank/credit card reconciliations
- Support the billing process by preparing invoices and assisting with collections and payment tracking
- Provide general administrative support to the office, including scheduling and coordinating internal requests
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the firm's professional and ethical standards
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1 years of experience in a public accounting firm preferred
- Experience with bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
- Experience supporting billing, tax administration, or office operations is a plus
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks
- Experience with tax software and document management systems is a plus
Schedule:
Hybrid schedule β 3 days in-office per week (4 days during tax season).
