Property Accountant

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our growing accounting team in Miami. The ideal candidate will have experience managing the full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties and possess strong working knowledge of Yardi. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly financial statements, performing reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank accounts, tenant security deposits, and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and analyze property operating statements and variance reports.
- Record and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, tenant billings, and cash receipts.
- Assist with CAM reconciliations, tenant reconciliations, and lease accounting, when applicable.
- Coordinate with Property Managers regarding budgets, operating expenses, and financial performance.
- Support annual budget preparation and forecasting.
- Assist with external audits and provide supporting documentation.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 3 years of property accounting experience.
- Previous experience in commercial, residential, multifamily, or mixed-use real estate preferred.
- Strong experience with Yardi is required.
- Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with operations and property management teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA-track is a plus.
- Experience with CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and fixed assets.
- Experience with MRI, Nexus, or other real estate ERP systems is a plus.
- Experience working with multiple entities and property portfolios.

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
