What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Credit and Collections position at Ascendo Resources?
We are seeking an experienced Director of Credit & Collections to lead the organization's credit strategy, collections operations, and accounts receivable performance. This leader will be responsible for optimizing cash flow, minimizing bad debt exposure, establishing sound credit policies, and building a high-performing collections team. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with a customer-focused approach and a proven ability to improve processes, leverage technology, and partner cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all credit and collections operations.
- Establish and maintain customer credit policies and credit limits.
- Monitor AR aging, DSO, collections, and bad debt.
- Resolve escalated customer account issues and payment disputes.
- Partner with Sales and Finance to balance customer relationships with credit risk.
- Develop reporting, forecasts, and KPIs for leadership.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and internal controls.
- Hire, mentor, and develop the Credit & Collections team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- 7 years of credit, collections, or accounts receivable experience.
- 3 years of leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of credit risk, collections, and cash flow management.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading multi-location or multi-entity credit and collections operations.
- Background in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, healthcare, logistics, or other high-volume B2B environments.
- Professional certifications such as CCE (Certified Credit Executive) or CICP are a plus.
- Experience driving automation, KPI reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
