Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of workers' compensation defense matters from inception through resolution
- Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and legal memoranda
- Conduct and defend depositions of claimants, medical providers, and expert witnesses
- Develop litigation strategies and provide practical legal guidance to clients
- Evaluate liability exposure, medical issues, and indemnity concerns
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the North Carolina state bar
- 2 years of Workers' Compensation Defense experience preferred
- Experience handling hearings, depositions, mediations, and negotiations
- Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage a caseload
- Excellent organizational and client service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators
- Insurance defense and/or civil litigation experience
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution and cost-effective litigation strategies
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $150,000 – $200,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
