What are the responsibilities and job description for the Municipal Attorney position at Ascendion?
We are working with an Award Winning Law Firm and they are looking for a Municipal Attorney to join their firm. Specifically, they are looking for someone who has 3 years of experience.
Requirements:
- 3 years of municipality experience
- Experience practicing law, preferably with direct exposure to municipal, county, or state government law.
- Strong knowledge of statutory law, constitutional law, and administrative procedures governing local municipalities.
- Licensed and in good standing in Washington State
Responsibilities:
- Act as a legal advisor to the city council, city manager, department heads, and various municipal boards on everyday operational and administrative legal matters.
- Draft, review, and revise municipal ordinances, resolutions, deeds, leases, public contracts, and official communications to ensure legal compliance and protect the municipality's interests.
- Represent the municipality in civil litigation, administrative hearings, and enforcement of municipal codes or traffic violations in local, state, and federal courts.
- Provide guidance on complex land use, zoning, eminent domain, environmental regulations, and public works projects.
The annual salary for this position is between 140k-170k. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
