The Human Resources & Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing daily human resources operations, processing payroll, handling accounts payable, coordinating new-hire onboarding, and administering employee benefits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process biweekly or weekly payroll accurately and on time, including reviewing employee hours, overtime, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
- Maintain accurate employee records, payroll information, and personnel files.
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, including completing employment paperwork, verifying employment eligibility, conducting orientations, and ensuring new employees receive necessary training and company information.
- Manage employee benefits, including health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, and other company-sponsored plans.
- Assist employees with insurance enrollment, changes, questions, and benefits-related concerns.
- Administer the company’s 401(k) retirement plan, including employee enrollment, contribution changes, and coordination with plan providers.
- Handle accounts payable duties, including reviewing invoices, coding expenses, obtaining approvals, processing payments, and maintaining accurate payment records.
- Reconcile payroll and benefit deductions and assist with financial and payroll reporting.
- Maintain compliance with applicable employment, payroll, tax, and benefits regulations.
- Assist with employee relations, attendance tracking, company policies, and general HR inquiries.
- Coordinate employee changes, including promotions, transfers, pay adjustments, and terminations.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll, and financial information.
- Assist management with HR reports, audits, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in human resources, payroll, accounts payable, or a related administrative role.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, employee benefits, and basic accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS software preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
