Position SummaryWe are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Float & Sand Plant Operator to join our team in Kings Mountain, NC. This position is responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintenance support, and quality control of the Float and Sand Plants. The ideal candidate will have experience operating industrial equipment, loaders, forklifts, and manufacturing machinery in a production environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Start up, operate, monitor, and shut down Float and Sand Plant processing equipment.
- Operate and monitor conditioners, float cells, cyclones, pumps, vacuum belt filters, dryers, conveyors, chemical dosing systems, and related processing equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and monitor equipment performance to ensure efficient operation.
- Perform in-process testing and quality checks to maintain product specifications.
- Control grit content and moisture levels of mica products.
- Collect and retain quality control samples as required.
- Complete daily production reports, testing records, downtime reports, and shift documentation.
- Monitor sand tailings stockpile levels and operate a front-end loader to move materials as needed.
- Load bulk materials into silo trucks and other haul vehicles.
- Operate forklifts and loaders safely and efficiently.
- Conduct daily workplace examinations and report any hazards or safety concerns.
- Perform equipment lubrication, fluid checks, cleaning, inspections, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Assist maintenance personnel during repairs and plant maintenance activities.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and clean work areas daily.
- Report equipment downtime exceeding two hours to management.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE when handling chemicals and operating equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating large industrial equipment in a manufacturing, mining, processing, or production environment required.
- Experience operating a front-end loader and forklift preferred.
- Ability to monitor and troubleshoot industrial processing equipment.
- Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and inspections.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to safety and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and lifting.
- Ability to conduct visual inspections and operate equipment safely.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including chemical-resistant gloves, face shields, safety glasses, hard hats, and hearing protection.
