Job Title:
Engagement Specialist (Case Manager)
Home Office: Johnson County Office (JCO), Pope County Office (PCO), Alexander County Office (ACO) Hardin County Office (HCO), Massac County Office (MCO), or Union County Office - Manion (UCOM). Location is dependent on office space availability.
Area of Focus: Behavioral Health
Program(s): Crisis Response and Intervention Services program (590) - The Crisis Response and Intervention Services, which are available 24/7, help people of all ages deal with immediate stressors, minimize the negative effects of physical or mental health challenges, and cope with a loss of functioning in any area of life.
Immediate Supervisor: Program Coordinator
Shift 1: Full-time 40 hours/week
Sunday: Off
Monday: 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Tuesday: 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Wednesday: 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Thursday: 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Friday: Off
Saturday: Off


Shift 2: Full time 36 hours/week
Sunday: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
Monday: Off

FLAS Classification:
Non-exempt
Engagement Specialist Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; must obtain a CRSS certificate within 12 months of hire or otherwise be eligible for MHP credential; must be at least 21 years of age.
Engagement Specialist Skills & Knowledge: Skills in the delivery of crisis support services; knowledge of local health and human services resources; excellent written and oral communication skills; basic computer skills; ability to navigate enhanced phone system.
Engagement Specialist Special Requirements: Has lived experience in areas of mental health, substance use, or navigating crisis systems. Resident of Alexander County, Pulaski County, Johnson County, Union County, Massac County, Pope County or Hardin County preferred. Ability to work evening and weekend shifts, as applicable. Must obtain the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential within 18 months of hire. Maintain First Aid & CPR certification. Must complete required registry clearances and criminal fingerprint background checks. Travel to all agency sites when appropriate. Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance. Operates agency vehicles and personal vehicles while driving for agency business in a safe and lawful manner at all times.
Engagement Specialist Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provides crisis stabilization and peer-based support services off-site in clients’ natural environments following Mobile Crisis Response services, as identified on a client’s safety plan, utilizing lived experience to promote engagement and stabilization.

  • Facilitates communication externally and across agency staff/applicable programs to ensure continuity of care for individuals presenting in crisis services, including supporting engagement and information sharing during crisis response.

  • Provides timely phone and in-person follow-up with individuals, families, inpatient systems, and referral sources; assesses the efficacy of the developed safety plan, offers ongoing peer support, and reinforces wellness strategies, making updates as needed.

  • Serves as the point of contact between Arrowleaf and inpatient facilities to exchange information and support development of a plan of care following discharge, including linkage to counseling, psychiatric services, and other recovery-oriented supports.

  • Provides comprehensive consumer care and case management services, onsite and offsite as identified by client needs, including assisting individuals in navigating and accessing transportation services, state and federal entitlements, medical care, psychiatric care, housing, and other basic needs to support stabilization and reduce re-entry into crisis.

  • Conducts outreach to individuals who are in or at-risk of entering crisis systems of care in an effort to assess for access barriers, provide peer support, and engage them into treatment and other stabilization supports.

  • Maintains networking and referral contacts with other human service providers and peer networks, both internally and externally, to expand resource availability.

  • Completes all required forms and documentation in a timely, accurate, and person-centered manner in accordance with program and funding requirements.

  • Demonstrates active involvement in team/program meetings, supervision, and agency/community events and activities as assigned.

  • Records and documents of consumer interactions and services by following established policies and procedures.

  • Ability to screen, assess, and support interventions for consumers exhibiting symptoms of trauma, incorporating recovery-oriented and peer support approaches.

  • Follows agency policy and procedure for all reports of abuse and neglect or suspected abuse and neglect.

  • Supports individuals in creating, reviewing, and utilizing safety and wellness plans, focusing on strengths, coping skills, and natural supports.

  • Provides emotional support, de-escalation, and recovery-oriented interventions to assist individuals in regaining a sense of safety and control during crisis situations, including phone-based support and engagement through crisis or resource lines, with appropriate coordination and warm handoffs when needed.

Salary Range: $34,596 - $40,381 annually.
