Role Summary

As a Measurement Physicist II, you’ll play a pivotal role in performing sophisticated measurements of radioactive materials, supporting production operations, and ensuring compliance with national and international standards. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, reliable data that underpins the safety and effectiveness of Theragenics products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform gamma/x-ray spectroscopy, ion chamber measurements, and dosimetry techniques to evaluate radioactive materials and devices.
  • Conduct confirmatory measurements with NIST or ADCL laboratories for Theraseed® and AgX100 products.
  • Support recovery from laboratory equipment failures and ensure timely detector calibrations.
  • Coordinate annual calibration activities with NIST.
  • Execute gamma spectroscopy analyses and normalization of detector response.
  • Provide technical and product support to customers and the sales team.
  • Represent Theragenics at professional and technical meetings (e.g., ABS, AAPM, CIRMS).
  • Support new product measurement protocols and maintain compliance with the Theragenics Quality System.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of related experience (academic laboratory courses may qualify).
  • Experience with spectroscopy and radiation detection instruments (NaI, IGe, CZT, ion chambers, scintillation counters).
  • Familiarity with dosimetry devices (TLD, radiochromic film) is beneficial.
  • Strong computer and software skills.
