Certified Surgical Technologist (Operating Room) Travel Assignment

Location: Watertown, NY 13601

Job Type: Travel Contract

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: 8-Hour Day Shift (7:00 AM 3:30 PM)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week

Pay Package

Blended Pay: $55/HR. on W2

Weekly gross: $2200/week

Non-taxable $1246/Week

Taxable: $954/week

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a 13-week travel assignment at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY. The Surgical Technologist will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and assist surgeons and the surgical team by maintaining a sterile operating room environment, preparing surgical instruments and supplies, and providing skilled scrub assistance during surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate has recent Operating Room experience, strong orthopedic and robotic surgery experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room before surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Perform surgical scrub duties during a variety of operative cases.
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently.
• Assist with orthopedic surgical procedures.
• Assist during Da Vinci robotic surgeries.
• Verify that all surgical equipment is clean, sterile, and functioning properly before each procedure.
• Handle specimens according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Assist with patient positioning and surgical preparation.
• Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with the circulating nurse.
• Clean, sterilize, and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment following infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation as required.
• Follow all hospital safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Assist with departmental duties as assigned.
• Precept and train new staff members when requested.
• Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage.
• Report to the hospital within 30 minutes when called in for on-call assignments.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification (Required).
• Current BLS Certification.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred or current New York State LPN license eligible.

Assignment Details

• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Shift: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (8-Hour Days)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week
• Weekends, Holidays & On-Call: Required
• 100-Mile Radius Rule Applies
• Overtime: Daily OT after 24 hours and Weekly OT after 48 hours (per contract terms)
