Pharmacy Technician - Arnot Ogden Medical Center

Schedule:

• 40 hours per week

• Day shift with occasional rotation as needed

• 1 weekend per month

• 1 spring/summer holiday

• 1 fall/winter holiday
  

What You’ll Do:

• Enter and maintain accurate computerized medication profiles

• Interpret physician orders and highlight dosing/frequency concerns

• Prepare, label, and dispense medications, including IV admixtures

• Repackage and compound bulk medications (oral, topical, solutions)

• Fill and deliver patient medications to care units

• Prepare and distribute controlled substances, including inventory and destruction documentation

• Maintain floor stock supplies for nursing units and ancillary departments

• Perform monthly quality inspections of medication storage areas

• Maintain and replenish emergency medication boxes and code cart trays

• Track and manage receipt, storage, and inventory of pharmaceuticals and alcohol

• Maintain patient personal medications for return at discharge

• Assist in training new personnel and participate in quality improvement activities

• Communicate clearly and courteously with staff and departments

• Deliver high-quality, customer-centered service to patients and coworkers
  

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Strong math and science background

• National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred

• 1 year of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred

• Familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems preferred
  

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing throughout the shift

• Some reaching, lifting, and stooping

• Must be able to handle physical effort in a busy healthcare environment

• Exposure Category III (no exposure to blood/body fluids expected)
