JOB SUMMARY
The Co-Facilitator supports the lead therapist in providing structured, therapeutic group services for individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This role focuses exclusively on group co-facilitation and providing emotional support within a clinical setting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Reports to: Clinical Director
Supervises: N/A
DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Group Co-Facilitation
Assist the lead therapist in facilitating group counseling sessions focused on recovery and treatment.
Support adherence to group goals and apply evidence-based approaches as directed (e.g., CBT, MET).
Help maintain a safe, respectful, and therapeutic group environment.
Emotional Support
Provide empathetic listening and support to clients during group sessions.
Encourage participation, engagement, and trust-building among group members.
Client Monitoring & Observation
Observe client behavior, interactions, and progress during sessions.
Document observations accurately and promptly in accordance with agency standards.
Communicate relevant clinical information to the lead therapist to inform treatment planning.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with the therapist and clinical team to support effective group delivery.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and follow all ethical and legal guidelines related to client information.
Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and supervision as needed.
Crisis Support
Assist in identifying client distress or crisis indicators during sessions.
Utilize de-escalation techniques and notify clinical staff immediately when additional support is needed.
Records & Documentation
Complete required group documentation, progress notes, and attendance records in the electronic health record (EHR).
Ensure all documentation meets agency policy and regulatory standards.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Ability to understand, speak, read, and write in English.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION
Minimum of CDCA required (or higher licensure).
PRIOR EXPERIENCE
1–2 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders preferred.
Experience in group facilitation or therapeutic support is preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to co-facilitate group discussions with empathy and professionalism.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices for substance use disorder treatment.
Ability to document effectively within an electronic medical record.
