Grade 8 Math Teacher - Long Term Substitute (January - June 2026)

Position Goal

To provide mathematics instruction according to the Arlington Public School curriculum and Massachusetts standards. This is a long term substitute position expected to begin in January 2026 and continue until the end of the school year.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Mathematics Teacher at the Middle School level
• Degrees in Mathematics and Education preferred
• Experience working with students at the Middle School Level.
  
  

Performance Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous mathematics lessons
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners with varied learning profiles
• Assess student performance formally and informally, and provide timely feedback to students on their progress
• Teach five sections of grade 8 and Algebra I mathematics classes
• Collaborate with colleagues to assess student outcomes and share best practices for teaching mathematics.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture where all students feel supported and encouraged to participate.
• Follow district policies and school and department expectations with respect to instruction, grading, and communication to parents and families
• Perform other such related duties as may be required by the Director of Mathematics or Building Administrators.
