Position Summary
The ESL Teacher provides high-quality English language development instruction and supports multilingual learners in accessing grade-level curriculum. The ESL Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers and instructional teams to strengthen language-rich instruction and improve student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
•Deliver standards-aligned English language development instruction aligned to WIDA Standards.
•Support students' growth in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
•Use assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
•Collaborate with teachers during CPT and PLC meetings to support multilingual learners.
•Develop and implement language supports that increase access to grade-level content.
•Participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
•Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and available supports.
•Participate in MTSS, IEP, and 504 meetings, as appropriate.
•Maintain accurate student records and required documentation.
Qualifications
Required
•Massachusetts ESL License or eligibility for licensure.
•Knowledge of WIDA Standards and second-language acquisition practices.
•Strong commitment to educational equity and multilingual learner achievement.
•Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families.
Preferred
•Bilingual (Spanish-English preferred).
•Experience working with multilingual learners.
•Knowledge of structured literacy and Science of Reading practices.
