Position Summary
The Music Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive music program that fosters creativity, musical literacy, self-expression, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. The teacher creates engaging learning experiences that develop students' musical knowledge and skills while supporting Arlington's commitment to academic excellence, inclusion, and student belonging.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver standards-aligned music instruction for students in grades K–4.
* Develop students' skills in singing, rhythm, movement, music appreciation, performance, and basic music theory.
* Create engaging, culturally responsive learning experiences that reflect students' backgrounds and experiences.
* Establish strong classroom routines, procedures, and expectations that maximize learning time.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
* Use assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
* Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and school leaders to support student success.
* Participate in CPT, PLCs, coaching cycles, and professional development.
* Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and performance.
* Support schoolwide initiatives, events, and performances as appropriate.
Qualifications
Required
* Massachusetts Music Teacher License (Vocal/Instrumental/General Music: All Levels).
* Strong content knowledge in music education and child development.
* Ability to create engaging learning environments that support diverse learners.
* Commitment to educational equity and student achievement.
Preferred
*Experience teaching elementary music.
* Experience working with multilingual learners and culturally diverse student populations.
* Bilingual (Spanish-English) candidates encouraged to apply.
* Experience planning student performances and schoolwide arts events.
