Teachers participate in ongoing coaching, Common Planning Time (CPT), Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and professional development focused on evidence-based instructional practices. Position Overview The Instructional Coach supports teachers in improving instructional practice and student outcomes across grades K-4. The coach works closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, teachers, ESL teachers, special education staff, and grade-level teams to strengthen curriculum implementation, data-driven instruction, and professional learning. Key Responsibilities • Support high-quality implementation of district-approved curriculum and evidence-based instructional practices. • Lead coaching cycles that include goal-setting, co-planning, modeling, observation, feedback, and follow-up. • Support teachers in planning standards-aligned lessons with clear objectives, strong tasks, scaffolds, student discourse, and opportunities for writing. • Analyze MAP, DIBELS, curriculum assessments, student work, and formative assessment data to support instructional decisions. • Facilitate or support CPT, PLCs, data meetings, and professional learning aligned to schoolwide priorities. • Provide teachers with clear, actionable feedback focused on the highest-leverage instructional next step. • Support multilingual learners through language-rich instruction, vocabulary routines, structured academic talk, visuals, sentence frames, and WIDA-aligned practices. • Support inclusive instruction for students with disabilities and dually identified students through accommodations, modifications, scaffolds, and access to grade-level content. • Collaborate with school leaders to monitor instructional trends and identify professional development needs. • Build trusting, growth-oriented relationships with teachers while maintaining urgency for student achievement. Required Qualifications • Valid Massachusetts teacher license. • Successful elementary teaching experience. • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, curriculum implementation, assessment, and data-driven instruction. • Demonstrated ability to coach, collaborate with, and support adult learners. • Strong understanding of multilingual learners, inclusive practices, and differentiated instruction. • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. • Commitment to equity, collaboration, feedback, and continuous improvement.
