The Art Teacher will build a safe, structured, and welcoming classroom environment where students learn routines, take creative risks, and develop confidence as artists. Key Responsibilities * Plan and teach developmentally appropriate visual arts lessons aligned to the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks. * Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment with clear routines and expectations. * Support students in developing artistic skills, creativity, problem-solving, fine motor development, and visual literacy. I* ntegrate culturally responsive artists, materials, and projects that reflect and affirm students’ identities, languages, and experiences. * Differentiate instruction for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and students with diverse learning needs. * Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, ESL staff, and school leaders to support student success. * Use student work, observation, and formative assessment to monitor growth and adjust instruction. * Display and celebrate student artwork throughout the school community. * Participate in schoolwide culture systems, restorative practices, family events, professional learning, CPT, and PLCs as appropriate. * Maintain art materials, classroom organization, and safe use of tools and supplies. Required Qualifications * Valid Massachusetts teacher licensure in Visual Art, or eligibility for appropriate licensure. *Strong knowledge of elementary art instruction, child development, and classroom routines. * Commitment to equity, inclusion, multilingual learners, and students with disabilities. * Ability to create a safe, joyful, structured, and engaging learning environment. * Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
