Position Summary:

The Coordinator of Campus Recreation will serve as a member of the Department of Campus Life team and will provide leadership and direction to the functional areas of fitness and wellness programming, and/or outdoor recreation, and/or club sports, and/or intramural sports while also providing the day-to-day and on-site coordination of related activities, services, systems, policies and procedures, and related supervision in the Campus Recreation Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and direction in a combination of the following areas:

Outdoor Recreation.

Fitness & Wellness Programming.

Club Sports.

Intramural Programs.

Responsible for maintaining a fall, spring, and summer calendar of events in assigned areas of responsibility.

Oversee daily operations in the Campus Recreation Center and its related programs and services.

Plan, develop, and implement comprehensive programs that meets the needs of students.

Responsible for marketing and promotion of all programs and services within assigned area of responsibility.

Supervise a staff of student employees in the Campus Recreation Center.

Develop and implement strategies for program growth and enhancement, including participant recruitment and retention, in addition to capitalizing on emerging trends and experiences.

Create partnerships with the local areas to assist in the development of new opportunities based on regional interest, as well as current student interest and national trends.

Conduct regular inspections, maintain inventory levels, and ensure accurate documentation for Campus Recreation property.

Assist with the development of summer specialty events for students and the community.

Provide ongoing education and training for all student staff within Campus Recreation.

Collaborate with the Health & Wellness Center on fostering innovative approaches to student wellness and overall well-being.

Assist in preparing annual and event reports for all areas of responsibility, including data collection and statistical analysis, evaluations and surveys, activity assessments, and program recommendations.

Responsible for the fiscal management of the budget for fitness and wellness programming.

Collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Campus Recreation, Division of Student Affairs, and across campus to support and ensure student retention and success.

Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of functional activities within the department.

Willingness to stay abreast of trends and issues in higher education.

Knowledge of assessment practices and program evaluation methods.

Ability to supervise and provide leadership and direction to graduate assistants and student workers.

Willingness to collaborate with colleagues within the Department of Campus Recreation, Division of Student Affairs, and throughout campus.

Professionally represent the Division of Student Affairs in all settings, including public speaking opportunities.

Willingness to actively participate as a member of the Department of Campus Life team by engaging in discussion, giving feedback and updates, and providing creative and innovative ideas to move Campus Recreation and the Division of Student Affairs forward.

Ability to manage a budget.

Ability to be a team player and support division-wide initiatives within Campus Recreation, Student Affairs, and beyond.

Ability to manage multiple projects in multiple functional areas.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively relaying updates and information to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Detail-oriented and the ability to prioritize.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports administration, exercise science, or an appropriate academic area.

Experience in outdoor programs, fitness, club sports, and intramurals on a college campus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in recreation, sports administration, exercise science, college student personnel, or related field.

Direct experience working in the field of campus recreation on a college campus.

Supervision, scheduling, and payroll tracking experience.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

Position is required to maintain office hours within the Department of Campus Life (Monday-Friday 8a.m.-5p.m.).

After hours and response/work as necessary to administer programs and events.

On-call for emergencies and crisis situations.
