The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Food Services in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operations of the Dietary Department. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining high-quality nutritional services in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Functions:

• Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the Dietary Department.
• Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Nursing, Housekeeping) to ensure smooth operations.
• Develop and maintain dietary policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
• Ensure dietary services meet resident needs and regulatory compliance standards.
• Assist with dietary service adjustments, incident reports, and staff performance evaluations.
• Inspect food storage, manage diet changes, and ensure quality food service delivery.
• Collaborate with the Infection Preventionist and support quality assurance programs.
• Maintain accurate records, including diet preferences, progress notes, and therapeutic diet plans.
  
  
  

Personnel Functions:

• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and scheduling dietary staff.
• Supervise staff, delegate responsibilities, and ensure productivity.
• Counsel or discipline staff as needed and monitor attendance.
• Support efficient meal production and maintain a positive work environment.
  
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a healthcare or medical facility.
• Training in cost control, food management, and diet therapy preferred.
