Job Title: Behavioral Health Program Coordinator
Department: Wellness & Empowerment – AI Opioid Settlement
Reports To: SVP of Wellness & Empowerment
Location: Harm Reduction Center
Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Coordinator will be responsible for the successful integration of mental health services as part of the NYSDOH-AI Opioid Settlement to increase access to and provision of low-threshold mental health services. The Behavioral Health Coordinator will utilize a neutral approach, promote and support integrated and person-centered models of behavioral health care. The Behavioral Health Coordinator will increase the availability and improve access to culturally and linguistically affirming mental health care to people who use drugs.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Supervise Settlement program staff including Social Worker and Peer Navigator.
· Attend on-going training on assessing and providing mental health counseling services to people who use drugs
· Complete Screenings, Intakes and Behavioral Risk Assessment
· Screen for mental health needs using PHQ-9 and GAD-7 screening tools
· Screen for substance use needs using and SAMISS Screening Tool
· Conduct 1:1 short-term and ongoing behavioral health counseling
· Complete referral and service coordination for substance use services (i.e. syringe exchange, harm reduction services, overdose prevention, in/out patient services, Medication Assisted Treatment, etc.)
· Coordination with care management staff for referrals and coordination of supportive services
· Develop appropriate resources for referrals to mental health and supportive services external sources
· Documentation of all services provided for charting and reporting purposes
· Utilize harm reduction modalities to address substance use disorder as a barrier to effective care
· Provide mental health education to staff and participants i.e. In-service training
· Attend and engage in community coalition meetings and events. Coordinate special events for members of the target population.
· Prepare monthly qualitative and quantitative data and reporting as required by agency and funding source · Attend supervision, staff meetings and training seminars as required by agency.
· Perform other duties as assigned by VP of Wellness & Empowerment.
Experience:
· Other duties as assigned Qualifications/Criteria: · SIFI certification a plus.
· Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and other STDs, substance use, harm reduction, and LGBT issues.
· Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
Education:
· Master degree in Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling or Psychology required.
· Bachelor degree with at least 3 years of experience working with target population
