What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Quality Coordinator position at St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester?
Under the direction of the Director of Quality and Patient Relations, the Behavioral Health Quality Coordinator serves as the primary contact for patient and family advocacy. This includes responding to patient and family complaints and coordinating and facilitating departmental responses in accordance with hospital policy and state and federal requirements. Responsible for data collection and abstraction of information from the medical record and entering data into databases for reporting to regulatory agencies. Performs basic analysis for opportunities for improvement and identification of trends. Accesses patient satisfaction data from external databases and formats to useful information for end users. Assists the Director in incident management reviews and reporting to a variety of regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient advocacy by responding and addressing patient and families' expectation of care concerns and facilitating expectation of care concerns that meet 24-hour resolution.
- Route and respond to expectation of care concerns for grievance investigation, respond to patient/family in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Collect data by abstracting pertinent information from the medical record for defined quality indicators. Assist in the identification and improvement of quality metrics as needed.
- Report patient satisfaction results on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Enhance patient care experience through meaningful analysis of data in efforts to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with incident management and reporting to the Justice Center, OMH, OASAS, and DOH.
- Assist the Director of Quality and Patient Relations with other functions as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or three years' experience in healthcare preferably behavioral health required
- Interact effectively with patients, families, and management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Proficient in Microsoft office products including Microsoft Excel required.
- Ability to interpret data, charts, and graphs.

- Frequent contact with patients, families and community members.
- Skilled in both written and oral communication. Frequent communication with regulatory agencies.
