What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ecommerce Manager position at Arett Sales?
Arett Sales is a 75-year-old, fourth-generation family-owned distribution company with established EDI/API infrastructure, automated order flows, and active e-commerce operations across 1P and 3P channels. We're hiring a technical e-commerce manager to own channel performance, data operations, and AI-driven automation — and to lead a small team doing the same.
This is a hands-on systems and data role, not a marketing position.
What You'll Own
- Platform Operations — Daily management across Amazon Vendor Central (1P), Amazon Seller Central (3P), Walmart Marketplace, Home Depot, Wayfair, and Lowe's 1P/Marketplace
- Data & Pricing — SKU-level margin analysis, pricing execution, catalog data quality, and feed/integration management
- Compliance & Risk — Proactive chargeback management, listing suppression resolution, and portal compliance
- AI & Automation — Build and maintain AI-assisted workflows, exception reporting agents, and data QA pipelines using tools like Claude Code / Codex / VS Code
- Team Leadership — Directly manage an E-Commerce Assistant and Marketing Assistant; coordinate with EDI team, external API developers, and internal ad agency
Time split: ~70% hands-on execution / ~30% automation and systems development
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of e-commerce experience with proven, measurable sales growth across Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, or Home Depot
- Expert-level Excel with large datasets (aggregation, validation, decision-ready outputs)
- Direct experience inside vendor/seller portals — chargebacks, compliance rules, taxonomy, feed management
- Working knowledge of EDI and API order flows
- Daily use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) in current or prior role
- Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or VS Code (required — signals toolset alignment)
- People management experience — ability to lead, develop, and hold a small team accountable
- Execution-first mindset — you ship outputs, not just strategies
Preferred
- Experience with marketplace data exports, API dashboards, and structured data systems
- Familiarity with lawn & garden, home, seasonal, or holiday product categories
- Background in automation scripting or no-code/low-code workflow tools
This Role Is NOT For
- Candidates with a marketing-only background — this is a technical, data-driven operations role
- Anyone who prefers to delegate rather than execute
- Candidates who are not actively using AI tools in their current workflow
Compensation & Schedule
- $85,000 — highly dependent on demonstrated results and skill depth
- Hybrid: 2 days in-office (South Jersey), 3 days remote
- Fully remote considered for exceptional candidates
