Quality Inspector
Reports to: Quality Manager
Location: Chelmsford, MA
Employment Type: Full-time / Temp-to-Perm
Salary Range: $60,000 – $63,000 Annual
Overview
Responsible for inspecting in-process and finished products to ensure they meet customer, industry, and internal quality standards. Reviews incoming work to determine production requirements. Inspects products and materials, reports inspection results, and documents non-conformances to verify compliance with engineering specifications. Troubleshoots issues and initiates corrective action when possible. Performs inspection tasks using a variety of test instruments and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
*
Perform visual, mechanical, and electrical inspections on in-process and finished products to ensure compliance with workmanship standards.
*
Compare inspection results against engineering and quality specifications.
*
Review incoming work to determine production requirements.
*
Inspect products and materials and report inspection results.
*
Document non-conformances to ensure inspected materials meet engineering specifications.
*
Troubleshoot problems and initiate corrective action when possible.
*
Assist other inspectors working on complex assignments.
*
Set up and operate a variety of test instruments and equipment.
*
Perform and review pull testing.
*
Use parts lists, Bills of Materials, and work instructions in the performance of assigned tasks.
*
Complete required inspection records, including non-conformance statistics and equipment malfunction reports.
*
Assist in statistical charting.
*
Log product status in the database using a computer terminal.
*
Participate in Total Quality Management (TQM) initiatives as part of daily responsibilities.
*
Follow company and OSHA safety guidelines and maintain responsibility for personal safety.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
*
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*
Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
*
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
*
Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards.
*
Ability to use a variety of test instruments and measurement equipment.
Education & Experience
*
Minimum of five years of previous experience in quality inspection.
*
Experience in an electromechanical manufacturing environment preferred.
*
High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications preferred.
