General Purpose
Performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and
equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
2. Conducts pre-shift/walk-around safety inspections and completes daily pre-shift inspection sheets.
3. Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or system, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
4. Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
5. Wears appropriate personal safety protection, follows prescribes safety guidelines, and maintains clean and safe work area.
6. Communicates effectively and professionally with other team members.
7. Performs other duties assigned by truck shop supervisor.
Essential Job Functions
1. Ability to climb, kneel, stoop, bend, reach, pull and lift.
2. Ability to weld and cut parts, using arc-welding and flame cutting equipment.
3. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
4. Ability to work with fuel, dust, lubricants and solvents.
Preferred Qualifications
1. High School diploma or GED preferred.
2. Basic math at high school or equivalent level is required.

1. Able to understand written and verbal instructions and listen attentively.
2. Able to use handtools, and precision measuring instruments.
3. Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
4. Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures with the intent to maintain a safe working environment. Report all safety incidents, accidents or injuries to supervisor immediately.
5. Participate in regularly scheduled safety meetings.
6. Ability to complete assigned tasks, work independently, and possess strong verbal communication skills.
7. Must understand and comply with Personal Protective Equipment requirements for work area.
