Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of vehicles and machinery, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, including Caterpillar and other brands.
- Conduct maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, and farm machinery.
- Repair and maintain transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
- Interpret schematics for electrical systems and perform automotive diagnostics.
- Execute tire service, brake repair, shocks & struts replacement, and alignment tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used for each vehicle or piece of equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding vehicle issues and repair processes.
- Assist in training junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in diesel engine repair.
- Proficiency in automotive repair techniques including assembly, equipment repair, and maintenance.
- Experience with heavy lifting and operating forklifts safely.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment maintenance practices.
- Ability to work with various tools including soldering equipment for electrical repairs.
- Previous experience in a dealership setting is preferred but not required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
