Job Description
The Director of Advancement has responsibility for advancing the mission of the school within its internal and external constituencies. The full-time Director of Advancement and reports directly to the Principal and provides leadership and planning for advancement and is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive institutional advancement program for the school. The responsibilities and duties of the Director of Advancement are an effort to provide sufficient resources to ensure the school can achieve its mission.
POSITION MAJOR RESPONSIBITIES

POSITION MAJOR RESPONSIBITIES
- Implements the school's mission, goals, and philosophy in collaboration with the Administrative Team
- Advances the mission of St. Martha by raising awareness of the school, its community and its mission through communications, public relations, marketing, and publicity
- Develops and maintains foundation relations
- Procures relations with community partners/corporate sponsors
- Prepare development and marketing reports
- Oversee donor and alumni database management
- Collaborates with Principal and staff to plan the annual calendar for all fundraising events
- Attends all school events relative to the position and as requested by the Principal
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Oversees all fundraising within the school, with direct responsibility for major gifts, capital campaigns, annual fund, and planned gifts
- Supervises all events related to the St. Martha Fund and other fund programming events
- Builds strong relationships among the parish/school community, cultivating a solid base of support for annual giving, and effectively administering all aspects of the St. Martha Fund
- Identifies, cultivates, communicates with, and solicits major gifts prospects with local businesses seeking support for the school
- Initiates and is responsible for all grant research and grant writing and manages grants awarded
- Spearheads and ensures completion of prospect research and development
- Ensures comprehensive, accurate constituent, donor, and prospective donor records
- Oversees the gift giving process and recognition program (generating all gift acknowledgements and maintaining documentation)
- Creates and produces all Advancement print pieces and materials, including but not limited to the Annual Report, the Admissions view book, all brochures, campaign materials, and letterhead and other Advancement and Marketing communication instruments such as sympathy cards, donor recognition cards, e-cards, and other materials
- Works collaboratively with the Principal to develop and implement marketing campaigns
- Evaluates marketing strategies and actively researches new advertising opportunities to expand market reach
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field
- Professional advancement experience in major gifts, campaigns or planned giving (preferably for a non-profit organization and/or school)
- Ability to effectively articulate the values and mission of St. Martha Catholic School
- A strong commitment to and understanding of donor recognition and stewardship
- Ability to maintain clear, accurate records and prepare accurate and timely reports
- Willingness and ability to travel locally
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Highly self-directed with an attention to detail and ability to organize effectively
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Publisher, and database programs and standard office equipment
- Bilingual English and Spanish is helpful
