New Roads is seeking a Worship Director to lead and continually strengthen our worship ministry across weekend Masses and other worship opportunities. This role is responsible for shaping meaningful, excellent, and engaging worship experiences; developing musicians and volunteers; and helping lead our community in prayer through modern Catholic worship.
This position may be hired as full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate’s experience and whether technical/production responsibilities are included in the role. Work is to be done on-site at our parish offices in Belmont.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Worship Leadership & Musical Direction
- Provide vision and leadership for worship at New Roads in alignment with our mission and values
- Plan and lead music for weekend Masses and special liturgies
- Create worship experiences that are prayerful, accessible, and engaging—especially for those who may be new or returning to church
- Maintain and grow a contemporary worship repertoire that supports the message, reflects the liturgical season, and resonates with a modern congregation
- Serve as lead vocalist and/or instrumentalist (guitar or keys) as needed

Team Development & Discipleship
- Recruit, audition, onboard, and develop volunteer and paid musicians
- Build healthy, life-giving worship teams rooted in collaboration, excellence, and spiritual growth
- Lead rehearsals and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Create pathways for musicians to grow spiritually and musically
- Cultivate a culture of ownership, accountability, and joy within the worship ministry

Worship Planning & Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with the pastoral team to plan services that align with teaching themes and liturgical seasons
- Prepare music, charts, and resources in advance for rehearsals and services
- Participate in weekly staff and planning meetings
- Contribute creatively to special services, series, and seasonal moments
Production & Technology (may be full or partial depending on role structure)

Oversee or collaborate on worship-related technology including:
- Audio systems (including Dante-based systems)
- Ableton Live and/or multitracks
- ProPresenter or similar presentation software
- Work with staff and volunteers to ensure excellent sound, lighting, and livestream experiences
- Coordinate with the Finance & Operations Manager on equipment needs, maintenance, and upgrades
Note: For part-time candidates, #4 (technical production responsibilities) may be reduced or handled by a separate Audio/Production role.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience leading contemporary Christian worship
- Strong musical ability (vocals guitar or keys preferred)
- Experience developing and leading musicians (paid volunteer)
- Comfort working in a collaborative, fast-moving church environment
- Familiarity with Catholic liturgy strongly preferred (but openness and willingness to learn is essential)
- Experience with Ableton, multitracks, Dante, and modern worship tech strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage details, timelines, and multiple contributors
- Ability to collaborate with clergy, staff, and volunteers in a team-based environment
- Comfortable providing leadership, direction, and feedback to musicians and volunteers
- Able to balance excellence with flexibility in a dynamic ministry setting
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Enthusiasm for the mission and vision of New Roads
- A heart for discipleship and a desire to help others grow in faith
- Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic Church
POSITION DETAILS:
- Reports To: Pastor
- This position may be hired as full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate’s experience and whether technical/production responsibilities are included in the role
- Required on-site Sundays: 7:30am–12:30pm
- Weekday schedule: flexible, coordinated with supervisor; some remote work possible; participate in weekly team meetings
- Required availability: Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, and Christmas Eve & Day
- Occasional evenings or Saturdays for special events or meetings
